Sincere condolences to family and friends. Just the other day, I came across photos that Joan had taken of me when I was a small child. I also came across an ashtray she made in ceramics and I remember it being on my parents' coffee table when I was young. It's a signed "Joni" Carpenter original! So many years ago and many miles apart but I thought of her often. A few years back, I had written a letter to Joan. It was one of those letters where you say everything to revive old memories. I wonder if she remembered. I guess I'll never know. Rest easy, Joan.

There´s a special place in heaven for Joan Marie Carpenter! She was referred to as the "church lady of Assumption Parish". Every day for as long as her health held out you would find her at church...attending Morning mass, followed by volunteering to perform all sorts of janitorial duties... watering the plants and shrubs around the church, sweeping the sidewalks, dusting the interior of the church, making sure the restrooms were always clean.... and the list goes on.
She loved Assumption Parish.... It was her second home. In addition to being a parishioner, she was also an extended member of my family. She would always be at my brother and sister-in-law´s home for all the religious holidays, birthdays, etc. We referred to her as "Auntie Joan".... and she loved that title. A simple, humble person who never sought any reward except a well deserved thank you. Joan, so sorry that I will not be able to assist at your funeral mass. I will celebrate mass for the repose of your soul here at my parish in Florida.
Looking forward to being with you again....in heaven. Thank you for being my dear friend and for showing me what it means to be a humble servant.

Our condolences on the passing of your Sister and Aunt.
I always missed your presence at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish and was happy to bring the Eucharist to you at the Watermark.
You always did so much for your parish because you loved to help!
I was very happy for you in 2011 when Father Barry chose you as the recipient of the St Augustine Medal and how much you enjoyed the celebration a few of us had in your honor.
Although you´ve been away from OLA for such a long time, I did miss you and thought of you often.
Job well done, faithful servant.
Rest in the Peace of Our Lord, my friend.
Eternal rest grant to her, oh Lord and let your perpetual light shine upon her.
