JOAN CHERNO

1930 - 2016

Joan Feinberg Cherno passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family. She was born October 5, 1930. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years Milton Cherno and their 3 children, Julie Cherno Bondi, Michael Cherno (Teresa), and Stewart Cherno; three grandsons Doctor Matthew Cherno, Ryan Cherno, and Aaron M. Bondi. She was preceded in death by her parents, A. Milton and Bonnie Feinberg, brother Albert Feinberg, sister Mimi Lait, sister-in-law Martha Goldberg and nephew, Doctor Bernard Rothschild. She is survived by her sister Sue Bendalin. She is survived by nieces and nephews, Lester Rothschild (Wendy and Neil), Sylvan Rothschild, Bunny Ginsburg (Harold), Annie Davenport (Robert), Lauri Dolgoff (Louis), Ronald Bendalin (Elizabeth), Linda Berger (Andy), Amy Marcus (Clement), Russell Lait (Linda), Jan Bergin (Mike), Asher Feinberg (Jody), and Cole Feinberg (Blayne). Joan was loved by many and has many friends. She volunteered at the UTEP Centennial Museum for over 35 years. She played golf at the El Paso Country Club with the Ladies Golf Association. She was a member of congregation B'nai Zion for 65 years. Always with a welcoming smile, she was one of the nicest people to all she met. She started the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill in El Paso. The first meeting was held in her home. She was a member of many civic organizations, she will be greatly missed. The family thanks her caregivers, Dora Martinez, Viridiana Anguiano, Christina Rojas, Irma Ibarra, Esperanza Melendez. The family thanks Hospice of El Paso for the tender loving care of Joan and her extended family. Box 9771, El Paso, TX., 79995 Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Bnai Zion Synagogue, 805 Cherry Hill Ln., El Paso, TX. with a Committal Service to follow at Bnai Zion Cemetery.
