Resident of Hoffman Estates and Schaumburg (Friendship Village) for many years.
Joan P. Earl, 92 peacefully passed away in Des Plaines, Illinois, on October 5, 2025. Born on January 27, 1933, in Joliet, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Josephine Mangun and the older sister of the late Kenneth Mangun. Joan spent many years working as a clerk for the Rock Island Railroad in Blue Island, Illinois, where she was known for her hard work, strong personality, dependability and friendly spirit. She took great pride in her job and valued friendships she made along the way. While working for the railroad, she met her husband, the late Charles B. Earl, who was a train engineer for the Rock Island. Together they raised two sons, David (Wendy) Earl and Bryan Earl, and one daughter, Linda (Karl) Dellenbach. She was blessed with three grandchildren, Michael (Brianne) Earl, Matthew Earl and Jennifer (Yohary) Earl, and three great grandchildren, Landon, Ivy and Emilia Earl. Family was a big part of Joan's life and she cherished moments spent together.
Joan was a Chicago Cubs fan. She enjoyed music, swimming, bowling and playing cards with friends and neighbors. She specialized in baking chocolate sheet cake and cooking peanut butter fudge! For many years, she enjoyed going to St. Peter Lutheran Church in Schaumburg, Illinois, for grandparents' day for her three grandchildren.
In addition to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Joan is survived by one nephew, Chris Mangun and one niece, Jori Mangun. She will be missed by all those who lives she touched.
