Joan, 89 of Grace was born May 26, 1933, in Grace, and died December 8, 2022, in Grace at home surrounded by her loving family. Graveside services will be held in the Spring of 2023 and will be open to the public.
Joan's father Walter Haglund, was a carpenter, farmer, mechanic and the list goes on. Jack of all traits and master of all. He always did jobs that no one else would attempt. Her mother Caroline Bybee Haglund, in Joan's words was, "the perfect woman." She had many talents and there was never a challenge she couldn't meet. Joan had a brother, Frank Haglund Miles, whom she absolutely adored, and a sister Allene Stoor.
Well these two parents created a legend, Joan could do anything she set her mind to, talented beyond measure. The most important thing to her was her children, six boys and one daughter, two baby girls that passed away just days after they were born. She devoted her life to them and taught them many talents and skills to survive.
Joan owned and operated Fabulous Fabrics in Grace for almost 53 years. This was no ordinary fabric shop people from all over would come to see her creations and buy her quality fabric, and lots of folks just stopped to say hi and check on her. She was a great listener and somehow made life better for many, many people. Her shop was her home away from home and was able to be at work on Monday prior to her passing. On her day off she would cook all day and then deliver food to friends and people that needed a little sunshine in there day.
She loved fairs, County, State, quilt, craft, you name it she loved it. She won many ribbons and many friends that she cherished.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Caroline Haglund, and her siblings Frank and Allene, daughters Gala Dawn and Jody Lee. She is survived by her seven children, many grand children and great grandchildren.
Please help us keep her legacy alive by spreading love and kindness to all you touch.
