She was born and raised in Pensacola FL. Joan's youth were spent in a loving family.
Joan was married to Michael Gentry and they had a son Michael Gentry Jr.
She grew up with five siblings in house and three older sisters Eloise (Jimmy) Foster, Genodria Hawthorne, Jessie Hawthorne, Wilheminia (Carlton) Gadson, Anthony Ladd, George (Barbara) Ladd and a host of other Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nephews, Nieces, and many many more relatives.
She started her career at Sacred Heart serving and giving care to others. Later moving to North Carolina where she continued serving and giving to others
at the medical field.
Later she returned to Pensacola and was employed by Sacred Heart once again. Later she became employed by Covenant Hospice were she later retired.
She was a faithful member of Cathedral of Faith church for many decades under Pastor B.A.Hemphill and Pastor Jack Hawthorne serving in the Usher ministry, The Finance Room and a part of the kitchen committee.
She enjoyed cooking and decorating her home and on her job and at church.
She Love the Lord Jesus Christ &
She loved her only child Michael and
Great appreciation goes out to Rosewood Health Care and Rehabilitation Center
And Staff of Sacred Heart hospital.
