Joan Matheson Obituary
Joan Matheson passed away on July 14, 2025, in Prescott Valley, AZ. Joan was born in January 1949 to Stanley and Madeline Martell in Barre, VT. She graduated from Castleton University in 1971 with a bachelor’s degree in education, and after moving to Arizona in 1981, worked for the Humboldt Unified School District at Mountain View Elementary School for over 33 years. Joan loved working with the students and seeing them grown and then working with their children!
Joan was an avid knitter, and she loved making one of kind gifts for the ones she loved. Joan and her husband Roy Sr. enjoyed traveling and sightseeing in their 5th wheel and sharing all those wonders with their grandchildren.
Joan leaves behind her loving husband, Roy Matheson, Sr., a son, Roy Matheson, Jr. of Searchlight, NV and his children, Jaelene and Rylan, daughter Kristy Matheson-Parks and son-in-law Jason Parks of Prescott Valley, AZ and their children, Russell, Garrett and Madeline. A brother, Joseph Martell and sister, Nancy Martell, whom both reside in Florida.
