Joan McGinty, age 73, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2024 at Forrest General Hospital. She was born on January 18, 1951 in Poplarville, MS to the late Nathaniel Smith and the late Queen Ester Poole Smith Thomas.
Joan was a proud graduate of Todd Memorial High School, Poplarville, MS and Mississippi Valley State, Itta-Bena, MS with a degree in elementary education. She taught school for over 20 years before retiring from the Poplarville School District.
She was survived by one son, Quincy McGinty; a stepfather, Herbert Thomas; 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grand child.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Green Grove Baptist Church, Poplarville MS at 12:00pm. Viewing will be from 10:00am – 12:00pm. Interment will be in the Rose Park Cemetery.
