On December 17, 2024, George Ravain was called to the Heavenly Kingdom, just a few weeks before his beloved wife, Sheila Eileen Ravain, a dedicated wife and mother, who followed her husband into the Heavenly Kingdom on January 12, 2025. Most recently residents of Poplarville, Mississippi, both born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, where George graduated from St. Aloysius Catholic High School in 1962 and Sheila graduated from Francis T. Nicholls High School in 1965.

On July 31, 1965, they were married and their oneness lasted over 59 years. The romance began years earlier when George would carry Sheila's books home from school. They were inseparable and their loving relationship was an inspiration to many. George was steadfast and dedicated to his family, working hard to give his children a better life than he had. He was a model Father and Husband, doting on his wife and always there for his children whenever they needed him, giving of himself unreservedly. He exemplified both strength and tenderness. While not a perfect person, his love for his family was perfect. Sheila became a full-time housewife soon after the birth of her first child in 1967. She was a dedicated mother, who always supported and cared for her children. Sheila exemplified kindness, always helpful to neighbors, friends, and family, giving of herself and never complaining. She loved music and dancing, talking, shopping, and playing games with her family. George spent 44 years working for BellSouth/AT&T and excelled in his analytical duties. He enjoyed cars, playing sports, watching television, Mid-South wrestling back when wrestling was good, movies, and playing games with his family. He was always affectionate to Sheila and they would sometimes randomly dance when one of 'their songs' would play.

They helped many relatives who were in New Orleans after the disaster of Hurricane Katrina, including caring for Sheila's Aunt, Betty Hicks, after the disaster until her passing. Sadly, they were never able to pursue their dream of travelling due to a back injury Sheila suffered in the late 90s that caused her constant pain throughout the rest of her life.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Elrie Ravain. Sheila was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Shirley Perret. They are survived by their three children: George Jr. (wife Erika), Shannon (husband Moe), and Stefanie (husband Barry); five grandchildren: Amanda, Zackary, Cole, Philip, and Heather; and Sheila's brother, Gary (wife Ginny).

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. on February 2, 2025, at Bagnell & Son Funeral Home located at 75212 Hwy 437 (Lee Road), Covington, LA 70435, with visitation starting at 10:30 a.m.In lieu of flowers, please send donations to CompassusLivingFoundation.org or HospiceAngels.org in their names.
