Joan Marie (Godvin) Melnick, 91, of Eastford went home to be with The Lord on Friday, September 5th, 2025 at her home in Eastord. She was the wife of the late George A. Melnick, Sr.
Born May 9th, 1934 in Hartford, CT she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Ferguson) Godvin. Joan retired from Phoenix Mutual Life Insurance in Enfield. Her later careers included Sales and Real Estate from her beloved home of 36 years in Eastford. A bold Born Again Pentecostal Believer of 58 years, Joan was a persistent Prayer Warrior who expressed complete Faith in The Word of God, and in the Grace, Mercy and Abundant Blessings of Our Holy Father God, and His Son, Our Savior Jesus Christ, and Our Comforter, The Blessed Holy Spirit. She loved helping people and wanted everyone to have God's very best. Joan knew The Mighty Power of The Love of God and through the years led many to the saving knowledge of God's Word. Graduate of Newington High School in 1952, she was a lifelong Democrat, civic volunteer, avid golfer and strong swimmer, who loved old movies, music, basketball, baseball, and boating, and spending time with her children and her husband of 67 years.
She is survived by her son, Daniel P. Melnick and daughter, Carol Joy McCarthy, both of Eastford. She was predeceased by her son, George A. Melnick, Jr. and three sisters, Catherine Piechta, Mary Rose Starr, and her twin sister, Janet Starr.
Graveside Committal Service will be held Monday, September 15th at 11am at Eastford Grove Cemetery, Route 198, in Eastford with Pastor Guy Miller of Christian Life Assembly of God Church officiating. To send an online expression of sympathy, please visit www.baconfh.com
