Joan P. Minette

Joan P. Minette, 87, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024. Born in Newark, the daughter of Harold and Florence Donnelly, Mrs. Minette was raised in Hillside, lived in Edison after her marriage, and moved to Scotch Plains in 1965. She graduated from Hillside High School and worked at Heil Company where she met her husband, Samuel Minette. They were wed in October, 1958 and were married for 60 years.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Samuel in 2019. She is survived by her devoted children, Nancy and her husband Thomas Belloni, of Huntersville, NC and Ken Minette and his wife Karen of Branchburg. Mrs. Minette is also survived by four beloved grandchildren, Roxanne Shah and her husband Rishi, Tara Wahl and her husband Derek, and Kevin and Jillian Minette. Also surviving are her brother, Daniel Donnelly, sister-in-law, Linda Scher, brother-in-law, Raymond Minette and many nieces and nephews.
Joan's greatest joy was spending time with her family and the grandchildren she loved so deeply. She loved hosting holidays and Sunday dinners. She made every meal special and welcomed everyone to her home. Wonderful summers on New Jersey Avenue in Lavallette spent with Grandma and Pop will never be forgotten.
The family would like to thank the community and staff at Sunrise/Brighton Gardens of Mountainside for the many friendships and loving care given to Joan for the past 5 years.
Family and friends are invited to visit from 4-8pm on Tuesday March 26th and from 10:30-11am on Wednesday March 27th at Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Avenue, Fanwood. A prayer service will be offered on Wednesday at 11:00 at the funeral home followed by interment at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
