Joan Palinkas Obituary

Joan Ann Palinkas, age 74, of Hawley, passed away peacefully at home after a long illness on Friday, April 5, 2024. She is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, Jesse Palinkas.

Born Jan. 18, 1950, in Valhalla, N.Y., Joan was the daughter of the late George and Evelyn (Graf) Dearman. She was a graduate of Valhalla High School, class of 1969. After her wedding, she and Jesse moved to North White Plains, N.Y.

They were residents of Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y., until moving to Hawley, Pa. in 1992. Joan and her husband Jesse are members of First Baptist Church of Hawley. The friends Joan made in her church community became like family to her. She loved her cats and living among the wildlife surrounding her home.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Aaron Palinkas, of West Nyack, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Lorraine McKeever.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Hawley, 315 Bishop Ave., Hawley, PA 18482. Inurnment will follow at Green Gates Cemetery, Hawley.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan's memory may be made to Dessin Animal Shelter, 138 Miller Road, Honesdale, PA 18431.
