Joan Payne Obituary
Joan Payne, of Richboro, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family, on January 28, 2026. She was 83. Joan is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Joseph A. Payne.
Born in Philadelphia to the late Edward and Laura Paliaga, Joan grew up in South Philadelphia graduating from Nazareth Academy High School. As a resident of South Philly, she loved the mummers and would be caught doing the mummers strut at family parties. As a child when not playing the accordion she could be found listening to Elvis records, the king always remained her favorite musician. Prior to moving to Richboro in 1978 she worked as a bookeeper where she by chance met Joseph because they drove the same model car. In Richboro, her and Joseph were long time members of St. Bede Parish where their 3 children went to school. Her greatest joy was her 3 children, whose achievements and families filled her with pride. She delighted in displaying their awards, diplomas, and photos for all who stepped into the house. She enjoyed cooking, making not only her mother's favorite polish dishes (pierogies, golumpki, kielbasa) but also other types of food. A true heart for traveling, Joan has been to Ireland, Italy, Brazil, Argentina, Canada, and the Caribbean.
Along with her husband, Joseph, Joan is survived by her loving children: Joseph Payne and his wife Tara; Jennifer Boden and her husband David; Edward Payne and his wife Michelle; grandchildren: Sasha, Allie, Maddie, Jordan, Taylor, Aidan, Edward, and Alexander. Joan is also survived by several cousins including Connie Schuld and her husband John, Martin Yaniak, her dear friend, Luba, many nieces, nephews and many treasured friends. Joan is predeceased by her parents; Edward and Laura Paliaga, and her sisters; Theresa Leonelli, Laura Schwartz, and Pauline Lux. She will be missed by all who love her.
Family and Friends are invited to attend a Morning Visitation on February 12, 2026, in St Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Rd, Churchville, PA 18966, from 10am until the Funeral Mass at 11am. Interment will be on February 13, 2026, at 10am in Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
