Joan McClure-Peak, age 80 of Pottsville, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2023 at National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs. She was born October 2, 1942 in Harrisburg, Arkansas to the late Charles Ernest Vail and Imogene Tate Vail. She was a member of the Victory Missionary Baptist Church, she was active in the Pope County Senior Citizens Center, loved preparing meals on wheels and she was an active member of the "The Eagles" bean bag baseball team. She also taught school at Dardanelle Elementary School for 16 years, worked for Dow Chemical for 16 years, owner and operator of the Peak Express Truck Lube in Russellville for 12 years. Been retired and active at the Pope County Senior Wellness Center, volunteered to pitch and was an active member of the Eagles Bean Bag Baseball Team. Joan was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Peak; her daughter, Susan Tate McClure; a sister, Debra Sheets and brother-in-law, Carl Lamb.
Survivors include one son, Charles W. McClure and wife Michelle of Pottsville; sisters, MaryJean Lamb, Patricia Ann Hedge and husband Kenny; a granddaughter, Carlee Tate McClure and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, 5:00P.M. to 7:00P.M. at Cornwell Funeral Home in Dardanelle. Funeral services will be held at 2:00P.M. Wednesday at the Victory Missionary Baptist Church in Russellville with Ken Worthen officiating. Burial will be in Brearley Cemetery in Dardanelle.
Pallbearers will be members of (8am) Senior Activity Mission, and Sunday school members of the Victory Missionary Baptist Church.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the people from the Eagles Bean Bag Baseball Team at the Pope County Senior Wellness Center.
