Joan H. Picone, of Beverly, wife of the late Richard J. Picone, passed peacefully on February 26, 2025. Born in Salem on August 28, 1933 to Harry P. Zarella and Marguerite (Jodoin) Zarella.
Joan resided with her husband in Danvers for 36 years. She graduated from Salem High School and later attended Felt & Tarrant Business School of Boston. For several years she operated Dino's sandwich shop near Long Beach in Gloucester and later operated Ye Olde Sandwich Shop on Hawthorne Boulevard in Salem. When her mother became ill she closed the shop and tended to her for 11 years. She also volunteered at Salem Hospital and was named volunteer of the month.
Joan is survived by two daughters, Donna R. Picone of Beverly and Gail J. Corsetti of Nashua, NH and Palm Beach, FL, her godchildren, John Parisella and John Monahan, and close cousins Sandra Kartanis, Carol Furnari, Marion Parisella and Peggy Dembro. She was predeceased by her uncle, Edward Zarella, and aunts Gina Dilisio, Linda Espinola, Lenora Twiss, Ellie Frantonia, and Adeline Monahan.
Visiting hours at Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, On Thursday, March 6th from 10am to 12pm. Burial will be at Wadsworth Cemetery, Danvers. Information, directions, condolences at www.campbellfuneral.com.
