Joan B. Reinschell, age 92, of Upper Sandusky, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2023, at Westbrook Assisted Living & Memory Care in Upper Sandusky.
Joan was born on September 7, 1931, in Crawford, Wyandot County, to Floyd and Mary (Vroman) Courtad, and they preceded her in death. Joan was married to Vyron L. Reinschell on May 19, 1951, and he preceded her in death on May 11, 2020.
Joan is survived by 2 daughters, Debra (Robert) Schroll, and Lisa A. Reinschell. A son Steve (Lyneen) Reinschell survives along with a grandson Doug (Sarah) Reinschell and 2 great grandchildren, Addison Reinschell and Caine Rupe. Joan is also survived by her brother Ray Courtad.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Marvin (Dorothy) Courtad, sister Mary Alice (Ralph) Stoneburner, and her sister-in-law Evelyn Courtad.
Joan graduated from Upper Sandusky High School in 1949, where she was the drum majorette for the marching band. She worked at the old Kroger grocery store in Upper Sandusky after high school for several years, but transitioned into being a homemaker, raising her 3 children.
Joan was a member of the First Lutheran Church where she was very involved in her earlier years. She was also very active in Eastern Star and was a member for 63 years. She served as Worthy Matron of the Warpole Chapter in 1964, Deputy Grand Matron in 1968, and she was the District President in 1981 for district #10. Joan was also a member of USANDO.
Visitations for Joan will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, October 14, 2023, with an OES memorial service beginning at 12:00 PM with a memorial service immediately following which will be officiated by Rev. Kathleen Shuck, at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky. A private graveside will follow at Old Mission Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church, or Angeline Adult Services, and can be sent to Lucas-Batton, 476 S. Sandusky, OH 43351.
