Joan Scholes Obituary

Joan Elaine Scholes (Brady) was born January 16, 1938 in Sheridan, Wyoming to Gertrude and F. Howard Brady. She passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025 at home surrounded by family.

Joan moved to Casper, Wyoming in 1947 with parents, older brother Allen and twin brother Jon. There, she graduated from Natrona County High School where she was valedictorian. She went on to get her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Denver in 1960. While there, she met the love of her life, Ron, and they married December 20, 1959. During their incredible 65 1/2 years of marriage, they welcomed 4 children; Scott (spouse Annette), Shelly (spouse Russ), Sandy (spouse Jason) and Steve (spouse Michelle). They were further blessed with 8 grandchildren; Brittany, Sterling, Bailey (spouse Luke), Mitch, Cameron, Shane, Trista and Kylie and 5 great grandchildren; Savannah, Winston, Riggins, Rory and Tara.

Throughout her life, Joan was a faithful member of Brentwood United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, played in numerous handbell choirs, and volunteered wherever she was needed. Her passion for volunteering extended to the Colorado Women’s Golf Association and Girl Scouts of America.

As a proud mother and grandmother, Joan never missed a sporting event, graduation or social event for any of them. She was also an avid Broncos fan and season ticket holder since 1966. She was fortunate to attend 3 Super Bowls! In her “spare time”, she was passionate about playing golf. She and Ron traveled around the country to play together and she was the women’s club champion at Raccoon Creek for 2 years.

Joan is preceded in death by her father, Howard; her mother, Gertrude; and brother, Allen. As we reflect upon Joan’s life, we celebrate a woman who was loved by all who knew her and passed her faith in Jesus to her children and grandchildren. She will be missed and cherished forever.

A celebration of life will be held on July 7, 2025, 11:00am at Brentwood United Methodist Church, 1899 S. Irving Street, Denver, CO 80219.
