Urbanski Funeral Home - Secor LocationJoan Patricia Seavolt, age 90 of Toledo, Ohio, peacefully passed away August 20, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born in Toledo on April 26, 1935, to Ralph and Mary (Weirich) Fitzpatrick. She graduated from Macomber/Whitney High School. She held jobs at Woolworth’s and worked in the histology department of St. Luke's Hospital.
She met her husband Eldon “Gus” through a good friend and they were later married on October 6, 1956. Joan was a stay-at-home mom until her children were older. She then received her real estate license and later held positions at H&R Block and retired from the City of Toledo's Department of Taxation.
Joan and Gus enjoyed their retirement years and travelled extensively around the world. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and gardening but most of all she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Joan was a lifelong dog lover, sharing her home with many beloved companions over the years.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband Eldon “Gus” Seavolt, her parents, brother William Fitzpatrick, grandson Jake Schneider, and son-in-law Dennis Marckel. She is survived by her children Lori Marckel, Sandra (Dennis) Schneider and Robert (Tammy) Seavolt, grandchildren Justin Marckel, Nicholas (Katie Grace) Marckel, Elaina Schneider, Alexander Schneider, Marina Schneider, Katie Serven and Jessica Parks (Frank), and great-grandchildren Emerson, Devin, and Henry Marckel, and Abigail and Maximus Parks.
Joan’s family will be receiving friends in the Urbanski Funeral Home a Life Celebration Home at 5055 Secor Road, Toledo, Ohio on Monday September 22, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. where funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor George Williams officiating. Joan will be buried with Eldon in the Attica Venice Cemetery in Attica, Ohio at a later date.
