Joan Lucille Shonk 87 of Lancaster, Ohio passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Arbors of Carroll. She was born on August 22, 1937 in Lancaster, Ohio to the late Ralph and Gertrude Faigley.
She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and enjoyed collecting panda bears.
Joan is survived by her daughters, Linda (Keith) Craig and Paula (Gary Krebs, Jr.) Thress all of Lancaster; grandchildren, Burgess Abdallah, Adam Thress and Tyler Thress; brother, Kenneth (Diane) Faigley of Florida; sisters, Gerri Mathias of Florida and Donna Karns of Michigan; sister-in-law, Linda Faigley of Lancaster and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard “Gus” A. Shonk, parents, brother, Donald Faigley, sister, Virginia Faigley and brothers-in-law, Pearl Mathias and James Karns.
The family would like the thank the staff at Arbors at Carroll for their love and care of Joan.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. in the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130 with Tyler Thress officiating. Burial to follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may visit Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial gifts may be given to Fairhope Hospice, 282 Sells Rd., Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
