Joan S. Smith, 90, of Simpsonville, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2024.
Born in New York NY, and raised in Massapequa NY, she was the daughter of the late John Frederick and Freda Christophersen Steinmetz.
She is survived by a daughter, Janice Hebel (Kenny Marion); two sons, John Sparacino (Jamie) and Robert Sparacino (Shannon); six grandchildren, Jeni Coffman (Dr. Zack), Laura Culberson, Michael Culberson (Dionna DeRosa), Nicole Culberson, Shelby Cochran (Justin) and Price Sparacino; and eight great-grandchildren, Aniyah Culberson, Nakyah Patton, Stormi Fincher, Caroline Coffman, Katherine Coffman, Ava Culberson, Mia Culberson and Quinn Cochran.
As well as her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and father to her children, Robert Charles Sparacino; and her twin sister, Joyce Partikian.
Joan was a loyal friend who often was the driving force behind fun activities. She was always regarded as the life of the party and relished that role. She enjoyed dancing, travel, golf and card games. Joan was a kind and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, always putting the needs of the children ahead of her own. She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by all.
The memorial service will be Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast Chapel in Simpsonville, directly followed by a time of visitation until 4:00 p.m.
