Joan Tedorski Obituary

Joan (Jarczynski) Tedorski, 87, of Arnold, PA, passed away peacefully at The Willows of Presbyterian Senior Care on Monday, Nov. 18, 2024. She was born in Arnold, PA, on Oct. 14, 1937, to the late Charles E. and Anna Jarczynski and resided there her entire life. Mrs.Tedorski was a graduate of Arnold High School and Indiana State Teachers College. During her career, she taught mathematics and science at Ridge Avenue High School in New Kensington and Gateway Middle School in Monroeville. Later in her career, she taught physics at Indiana State Teachers College. In 1988, she began a second career providing administrative support to the Western Pennsylvania Firemen's Association for over thirty years, where she held the office of Assistant Secretary. Joan shared her commitment to community service by providing home-cooked meals for the members of the fire department at various functions, working fundraisers, and doing whatever was needed to support the fire service. She was truly happiest when working in her kitchen. Her love of learning inspired her family and friends to become lifelong learners in every way. She also enjoyed reading, sewing, cross-stitching, and traveling. She is survived by her son, John Charles Tedorski, of Harrisburg; her sister, Charleen (Joe) Bosco of Belleair, FL; nephews, John and Joe (Patti) Bosco, all of Largo, FL; friends, Stephen Lund of Forest Hills, Margie and Ralph Brown, Bethany Ball, Kourtney Brown, and Nathan Brown; and her loving friend, Lorraine Oakes. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Chester Tedorski; and by her parents. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday and Friday, at THE RUSIEWICZ OF ARNOLD FUNERAL HOME, 1400 5th Ave. at 14th St., where a parting prayer service will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m, followed by funeral service at 11 a.m., by Rev. Marsha Adams in Calvary Lutheran Church, 1721 Victoria Ave., Arnold. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Lower Burrell. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations made in her name to the Western Pennsylvania Firemen Association, P.O. Box 504, New Kensington, 15068. The Arnold Fire Dept. will conduct services for the mother of a member at 7 p.m., on Friday, in the funeral home. www.RusiewiczFH.com
