Joan Teifer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Saul Colonial Home on Mar. 7, 2024.
Joan M. Teifer, 90, of Hamilton, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Avalon Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, surrounded by love.
Born on March 8, 1933 in Newark, NJ to James and Marie McGrath, Joan and her three brothers were raised in East Orange, NJ. Joan was a graduate of St. Mary's School of Nursing in Newark. She proudly dedicated herself to caring for others as a Registered Nurse. She remained a lifelong New Jersey resident; eventually settling with her husband, Joseph Edward Teifer, in Edison.
Joan was an extremely devoted and loving mother of six. She kept a home filled with love, laughter and endless antics. The stories she had were countless and the love she gave was limitless. As the saying goes, to know her was to love her. She was kind, thoughtful and the definition of chic. Her sharp wit and sassy sense of humor never ceased to have the room laughing. Joan was a cherished grandmother. She took great pleasure and pride being involved in the lives of all of her grandchildren.
Joan is predeceased by her loving husband, Joseph E. Teifer; her daughter, Donna Teifer; her parents, James and Marie McGrath; and her brothers, James McGrath, Gerald McGrath, and Francis McGrath.
Joan is survived by her children, Joseph Teifer, Michael Teifer, Patrick Teifer (Lilyann), Elizabeth Teifer, and Peter Teifer; her grandchildren, Joshua Haden, Bredina Haden, Caitlin Carvalho (Hugo), Cristin Nelson (Jake), Peter Teifer, Christopher Teifer, (Megan), Joseph Teifer, Brittany Schlattman (Christopher), Natasha Jostad (Jeremy), Briana Hrabal (Tom), and Alex Cabatbat (Hannah Lai); her seven great-grandchildren; and many loving friends and extended family members.
A Memorial Service will begin Sunday, March 10, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ.
Interment will be held privately.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday, March 10, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Saul Colonial Home.
