MEREDITH --- Joan Mary Tower, 87, of Forest View Manor, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.
Joan was born on May 18, 1937, in Manhattan, New York, daughter to the late Mary Krupa. Joan was a true New Yorker! After High School, Joan worked in New York City as a secretary, working for some of the most well-known companies in the city, including the New York Times.
Joan married Ensley A. Tower (known to good friends as Tony) in February of 1969. Tony was attending Seton Hall University for his undergraduate degree while going through ROTC with the United States Army. After graduation, Joan and Tony moved to an Army base in Germany where Tony completed his Army service. While living in Germany, they traveled throughout Europe together, experiencing for the first time in their lives how exciting, educational, and amazing travel was!
Upon returning to the states, they moved to New Jersey and worked in New York City where Joan made life-long friends. She gave birth to their son Scott in March of 1970, and took on the most important job she was meant to do, raising her children. In June of 1972, their daughter Jennifer was born and Joan dedicated herself to being a stable force in her children's lives.
Joan was always there for her family - whether it be school or sports - she was a constant support. She planned the most amazing trips and shared her love of travel with her family.
Joan was incredibly artistic and was dubbed "Martha Stewart before there was a Martha Stewart." She loved sewing, quilting, needle point, painting, drawing, cooking, baking, crafts, the arts, and music. She was a fan of all music - Neil Diamond to the symphony. Music was always playing throughout the house.
The thing Joan loved the most was meeting and talking with people, friends and strangers alike. She always had amazing stories to tell.
Joan is survived by her children Scott E. Tower of Everett, MA and Jennifer L. Tower-Whitfield, of Thornton, NH and son-in-law Brian J. Whitfield, of Thornton, NH. We miss you dearly, Mom. We wish you peace and we know that Saint Peter opened the gates to heaven for you. Welcome to the kingdom, Mom. You are home!
