Joan Berry Wade

Joan Berry Wade, age 94, lately at the Woods Senior Care in Griffin, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 6, 2025.

She is survived by her daughter, Lynn (Chris) Holdorf; grandchildren and spouses, Christopher (Jill) Holdorf, and Emily (Martin) Kirby; and five great grandchildren, with one more to be born in February. Joan was one of seven siblings of which she is survived by her brother John Berry and his wife Barbara, and many nieces, nephews, and their spouses.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Burton Wade, daughter Corliss Wade, and daughter Trish Bowles.

Joan was born July 27, 1931, in Alabama, but grew up in the Atlanta area. Her first job after graduating high school was in the legal department of Southern Bell, where she met life long friends and greatly enjoyed her job. She left work to have her family and found her greatest joy in being a wife and mother.

Joan was a life-long learner and loved to read. She began sewing at age 12 and became very accomplished in making clothes for herself and her children. She delighted in crafts and "making something from nothing." She enjoyed being outside in nature, whether camping or planting flowers in the yard. Later in life she would begin to draw and found great satisfaction in seeing her abilities grow.

Joan was a good listener and loved being able to help others. She was a strong believer and enjoyed studying and teaching the Bible. She was a member of Oak Hill Church in Williamson, Georgia.
