Mrs. Joan M. (Starke) Weidner, 89, of Fleetwood, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025 at her home.
Born September 24, 1936, in Laureldale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Herbert C. and Pearl I. (Miller) Starke. She and her husband, Robert D. Weidner, celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on April 17, 2025.
Joan was a 1954 graduate of Muhlenberg High School. She spent time working as a sales clerk at the former Pomeroy's in Reading and was a sewing machine operator at Fleetwood Sportswear. Joan loved the time she spent at Berks Encore Fleetwood, where she and the ladies would play her favorite game, bingo!! Joan and Robert also enjoyed camping, square dancing, snowmobiling and doing jigsaw puzzles.
Surviving in addition to her husband, Robert, are her three children, Robert S. Weidner, husband of Deborah L. (Yeager) Weidner, Fleetwood, Keith A. Weidner, husband of Nancy J. Weidner, Shoemakersville, and Jerry L. Weidner, husband of Kimberly A. Dorney, Reading. She is also survived by her two step-grandsons, Justin and Jonathan.
Along with her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Starke and her sister, Shirley (Starke) Scindo.
A visitation for Joan will be held at Walbert Funeral Home & Crematory, 14390 Kutztown Road, Fleetwood, on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
Burial will take place privately in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Joan's memory to Berks Encore Fleetwood, 14432 Kutztown Road, Fleetwood, PA 19522.
