Margaret "Peg" (Brown) Huffert, 88, formerly of Pricetown, died on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Keystone Villa Fleetwood. She was the wife of the late Paul Henry Huffert who died January 10, 2003. They were married 44 years.
Born November 6, 1936, in Cleveland, Ohio, Peg was the only child of the late Alton and Isable (Yeingst) Brown. She is survived by her son Jeffrey Paul Huffert, longtime companion of Janet Yost, of Fleetwood and daughter Barbara Lynn Huffert of Shoemakersville, Pennsylvania.
Peg graduated from the Wyomissing High School in 1954 and graduated from Kutztown State College majoring in Education. She taught English at Wilson High School before her children were born then at Boyertown High School for 16 years. She was the yearbook advisor for many years.
After Peg retired, she worked for Dimensions, a needlework manufacturer in Reading.
Always an avid gardener, Peg became a Master Gardener for the Berks County Penn State Extension in 1987 and was recognized for volunteering over 5,000 service hours. Her Pricetown home was surrounded by unusual and beautiful plantings.
For decades, Peg joined a group of three ladies traveling to a variety of Berks County restaurants for a weekly luncheon get-together, sharing books, children, and life experiences. She always had a puzzle to work on, the harder the better.
Services for Peg will be held privately by her family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Kutztown Community Library, 70 Bieber Alley, Kutztown PA 19530 or the Safe Cat Network, P.O. Box 24, Virginville PA 19564.
