Joan Wood

Joan (Norton) Wood, 91, Rutland, VT passed away peacefully on Friday September 26, 2025. She was born on June 6, 1934 in Springfield, Vt the 7 of 7 daughters of the late Wendell Philip Norton and Ellen (Allen) Norton.
She met her longtime husband John Wood in 1953 and later that year they were married. They were married for 62 years before John was taken from her; they are once again reunited.
Joan enjoyed many things over the 91 years including playing golf, various craft projects, sewing, she would make a baby quilt for each of her 8 grandchildren. She also enjoyed doing the daily crossword puzzle in the newspaper and mall walking with her friends.
Joan held a few jobs over the years including working in the office of Homer Fitts, Barre, VT. Working the office of an automobile parts store in Burlington, Vt. A real estate agent for Lang Assoc Realtors in Essex Jct., VT.
She leaves behind her 3 children, Jack Wood and his wife Pam (Parrish) Wood of Norton, MA. Judy (Wood) Ryan and her husband Ed Ryan of Shrewsbury, VT and Jennifer (Wood) Ferreira and her husband Mark Ferreira of Bourne, MA. Joan also leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
