Joan Mary Young, age 66, of Grove, Oklahoma, passed away October 25, 2025, at Ascension St. John's Hospital, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Joan was born April 5, 1959, in Iola, Kansas, to Darrell Don Ross and Elizabeth Ann (Betty) (Sicka) Ross.
Joan attended grade school at St. John's Catholic School in Iola and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1977. She married Brian C. Hegwald on September 8, 1979, and they had two children, Diana and Brian M. They later divorced. Joan then married David Chambers and they later divorced. She married Anthony Young on July 30, 2015, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and he survives of the home.
Joan worked at H.L. Miller & Son, Humboldt High School, and Jake's Fireworks. She retired from Jake's Fireworks after nineteen years of service.
Joan was an avid collector of turtle memorabilia. She enjoyed living at Grand Lake and she loved to read.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents; son, Brian M. Hegwald; and sister-in-law, Peggy Ross.
Joan is survived by her husband, Anthony Young; daughter, Diana Guenther (Nathan); step-children, Jordan, Kassidy, Kindahl, siblings, Larry Ross, Don Ross (Charleen), John Ross (Mary), Charles Ross (Kathy), Sharon Engeman (Ted), Jean Ross; grandchildren, Heaven, Isaiah, Olivia, Brian A.; step-grandchildren, Caroline, Lincoln, Kora; and numerous other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2025, in The Venue at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas. A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2025 in the chapel at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Humboldt, Kansas.
Memorials are suggested to the Biblesta Committee, and may be left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service.
