Joana Pickett Alexander went to be with the Lord on August 11, 2025.

Joana was born on May 29, 1944, in Crystal City, Texas to parents Joseph and Dorothy Pickett. She later married Gilbert W. Alexander in a small ceremony on November 6, 1964, in San Antonio, Texas.

Joana was a 1962 graduate of Carrizo Springs High School and attended Southwest Texas Junior College in Uvalde. Afterwards, she was employed by Southwestern Bell for a while and then landed a government job at Kelly Air Force Base where she worked as a quality control specialist for more than 25 years.

Joana and Gilbert were blessed with 60 years of marriage. Throughout her life, she had many hobbies and activities that kept her busy. Early on, she was room mom, coach, 4-H leader, and shuttle driver for all our activities.

She was involved in many organizations as well. She was a lifetime member of the KCFA, member and officer for the Lioness Club of Boerne, served as president of the NARFE association, and member of the St. Joseph's Craft Guild.

In her spare time, she loved spending time with family and especially her grandchildren. She was actively involved in their lives and their biggest cheerleader on the sidelines.

Her hobbies included crocheting, baking, cake decorating, cooking, sewing, and crafting. She also loved barbecuing and could grill the best ribeye with shrimp!

Her beautiful smile, kind heart, and generosity will be missed by everyone who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Dorothy Pickett and her sister, Lucille Wise.

She is survived by her husband, Gilbert W. Alexander, daughters, Nicole Rowe and husband Jemmie, Megan Limmer and husband Josh, Stephanie Hartman, son, Stephan Alexander and wife Jennifer, brother, Forest Pickett and wife Jan, and brother in law, Marion Wise, grandchildren, Jon Richard and spouse Tamara, Seguin, Dillon and fiancé Ashlee, Alexandria and boyfriend Jerry, Caleigh and spouse Will, August, Seguin, and Jenna.

She also has two great-grandchildren, Christopher and Oakleigh, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, in-laws, numerous extended family, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 15, from 5-7 pm at Ebensberger-Fischer Funeral Home in Boerne, TX. A Rosary will be said at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 16, followed by a Liturgy of the Word service also at the funeral home chapel.

Following her service, a Celebration of Life will be held at the Kendall Hall at 209 Lohmann Street, in Boerne Tx. All are welcome to attend.
