Joann Marie Capone, age 79, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025, at her home in East Kingston, NH, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on December 15, 1945, in Boston, MA, Joann was the beloved daughter of the late Emilio Siciliano and Josephine (Tammaro) Siciliano. She grew up in Boston's North End alongside her brother, Mario, and cherished the deep-rooted traditions and vibrant culture of her Italian-American upbringing.
A proud graduate of Julie Billiart High School, Class of 1963, Joann went on to marry the love of her life, Raymond Capone, on October 16, 1966. Their story began as childhood neighbors and blossomed after a fateful New Year's Eve date. Together, they built a beautiful life-first in Revere, MA, then in Topsfield, MA, where they raised their two sons.
Joann had a rich and varied professional life. She began her career in real estate with Carlson Realty and also worked in mortgage processing. She later found her calling in public service, first as Director of Events for the American Lung Association, and eventually as the Director of the Council on Aging in Topsfield-a role she held with compassion and dedication for two decades until her retirement in the early 2000s.
After retiring, Joann and Ray settled in East Kingston, NH, where they continued to enjoy life together. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Joann's family was her greatest joy. She especially treasured time spent with her five grandchildren, always present in their lives with boundless love and support.
Joann had a vibrant spirit. She adored weddings and was often the first on the dance floor. In her youth, she enjoyed horseback riding and belly dancing. Later in life, she delighted in traveling to Italy and Sicily with Ray, connecting with her heritage, and preparing delicious home-cooked meals that brought her family together.
A woman of deep faith, Joann was a Communicant of St. Michael Church in Exeter, NH, and formerly of St. Rose of Lima Parish in Topsfield, MA. She was also a proud member of the Madonna Delle Grazie Society.
In addition to her parents, Joann was predeceased by her beloved niece, Lisa Siciliano.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Raymond Capone; her sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Laurie Capone, and Ronald and Karen Capone; her adored grandchildren, Nicholas, Jake, Matthew, Daniel, and Andrew Capone; and her cherished brother, Mario Siciliano.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Monday, May 12, 2025, from 9:30–10:30 AM at Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine Street, Exeter, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at St. Michael Church, 9 Lincoln Street, Exeter, NH.
Joann will be laid to rest at Pine Grove Cemetery in Topsfield, MA, with the procession expected to arrive at 12:45 PM.
