Joann Anderson Cleek, 91, a long-time resident of Knoxville and Jefferson City, TN, died on October 27, 2025, at Jefferson Park Nursing Home, in Dandridge, TN. Mrs. Cleek was a member of First United Methodist Church, in Jefferson City, TN.
Joann was born in Delmar, Maryland, on March 22, 1934. She grew up in Dover, Delaware, with her parents, Myrtle M. and Clifton P. Anderson, and her three siblings, Howard, Linda, and Clifton Anderson. Joann’s parents and siblings have proceeded her in death. Joann married Charles Augustus Cleek, May 8, 1953. Charles preceded his wife in death in 2011. Joann and Charles have one daughter, Jennifer Gwen (Cleek) Hatcher. Joann and Charles are grandparents to Amanda Hatcher, Summerville, SC, Lacie Bradford, Rising Fawn, GA, and Callie Hatcher, Greenville, SC.
Mrs. Cleek retired from the U. S. Secret Service, in Knoxville, TN. After retirement, she was a substitute teacher at Dandridge Elementary School, in Dandridge, TN, and also served as the office manager at the school.
Joann was loved by many friends and colleagues. She enjoyed cooking, crafting, and wintering in Florida, with her husband. She and Charles spent as much time as possible traveling to visit family.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 am, Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in the mausoleum. A short graveside service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Breast Cancer Research, St. Jude’s’s Children’s Research Hospital, or The Heart Association.
