JoAnn Cristea

JoAnn (Salberg) Cristea, 98, of Schererville, passed away Monday, August 18, 2025. She was born June 9, 1927 in Gary, Indiana to Louis and Sidonia (Rotenberg) Litz. On August 10, 1947, in Gary, she married Leland Salberg who preceded her in death and later in Valparaiso, Indiana, she married Rello Cristea who also preceded her in death. JoAnn is survived by her Children Dr. Larry (Roberta) Salberg, Dr. Richard (Lauri) Salberg, Roseann (Michael) Burklow, Attorney Jeffrey David (Tracy) Salberg and Ronnie (Debbie) Cristea; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Christopher (Sandy) Cristea. She worked for her sons as an office manager for many years. Earlier on in her life she was a member of the theater guild in Valparaiso and enjoyed dancing. Graveside services will be at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, August 19th at Graceland Cemetery (Temple Israel Section). Rabbi Shoshana Feferman will officiate. Bartholomew Funeral Home in Valparaiso is handling arrangements.
