Joann Marie Farley was born on October 20, 1938, in Farmington, New Mexico, to George Allen and Mary Ellen Hood. She passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024 into Gods loving arms.
Joann spent her entire life in Farmington, building her legacy on the family homestead. She graduated from Farmington High School in 1956.
Joann met the love of her life while working as a carhop. She married Eugene 'Gene' Farley, on December 21, 1955. Together, they built a life centered on family raising two sons and a daughter. Joanns deep faith in Christ guided her every step and was reflected in her boundless generosity and care for others. Joann had a sharp mind and remarkable memory for details. Her uncanny sense of humor would definitely catch you off guard. Joanns strength was unwavering as shown by the constant smile on her face no matter the extent of pain she was experiencing.
For over three decades, Joann worked tirelessly preparing lunches for students at Heights Jr. High School. Her passion for cooking extended well beyond her profession; she delighted in nourishing those around her. Whether it was a family gathering or a church event, Joanns lovingly prepared meals became a hallmark of her hospitality and warmth.
Joann is lovingly remembered by her daughter LeAnna Hanhardt and husband Leon; son George Steven Farley and wife Angela; grandchildren Logan Hanhardt and Karina, Taylor Stevens and Connor, Madison Tarbet and Tyler; and great-granddaughter Savannah Stevens. Joann was joyfully awaiting the arrival of her great-grandson George Michael Stevens in June 2025. Also grieving her loss are her sisters Barbara Hill, and Gloria Keenan, along with Glorias husband John. Joanns legacy extends to numerous nieces and nephews who held her close to their hearts. She was blessed with the companionship of three special angels in her life: Luanne Crow, Betty Jean Farley, and Jan Jacobson, whose love and support brought joy to Joann throughout the years. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Gene Farley, son Michael Farley, and brother Tom Hood.
Joanns legacy is one of love, faith, and selfless service to others. Her memory will forever inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. May the many lives she touched find comfort in celebrating the remarkable woman she was.
A Celebration of Joanns life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 1st, 2025, at Mountain Vista Baptist Church in Farmington, NM.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Tibbets All Abilities Park Foundation, 804 E. Navajo Street, Farmington, NM 87401(taapfoundation.com).
