Mrs. JoAnn Raines

Joann Raines, the daughter of the late James E. Smith and the late Ophelia Smith, was born November 3, 1938, in Dunn, North Carolina. She departed this earthly life and transitioned to her heavenly home to be with the Lord on May 11, 2025. She accepted Christ at an early age and was an active member of Sperring Memorial Baptist Church. Joann was caring, dependable, kind, and a hard working woman who was loved by everyone.
She touched many lives by expressing and sharing her love for God with everyone she encountered. Joann was also a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Joann was united in holy matrimony to Leon Raines, Jr. To this union two daughters were born, and one son, Derrick L. Raines was preceded in death.
We celebrate and remember Joann's memory with gratitude. She is survived by: her husband, Leon Raines, Jr.; two daughters, Bridgett (David) Spann and Kimberly (Maury) Northington; one grandson, Devin Spann; one granddaughter, Deanna Spann; one brother-in-law, Lawrence C. Smith; two nieces, Valerie A. Smith, Sharon Smith-Reyes all of Fayetteville, North Carolina; a great niece, Bianca Reyes of Charlotte, North Carolina; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
