Clarence (Fred) Autry, born on April 12, 1941 in Cumberland County passed away on August 29, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family at the age of 84. Fred was the son of Clarence and Maude Autry. His life began as a farm boy who dreamt of being a trucker.
Fred began his trucking career hauling gas and ended the adventure hauling freight from Consolidated Freight in 1998.
Beyond his trucking profession, Fred found joy in fishing, NASCAR, playing pool and old western movies. His love and devotion to his family flowed naturally.
Fred was a wonderful husband, father, brother, Papa, and friend. To carry on his memory are his devoted wife, of 40 years, Virginia Autry, two sons; Randy Autry and Darrell Dees (Pattie); two daughters, Debbie Ray (Bob) and Barbie Coble (Mark); eight grandchildren; A.J. Autry (Mia), Krista Revels (Korey), Kayla Dees, Heather Graves (Joe), Mary Ann Konopnicki (Corey), Catherine Lovell (Joshua), John Mark Coble, and Jodie Coble. nine great-grandchildren; a precious sister, Norma Stackley and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 1, 2025 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. at Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service. A memorial service will follow in the chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make contributions to Medi Home Hospice; 564 W McLean St., Suite B, Saint Pauls, NC 28384.
