JoAnn (Happe) Schoenstein, 52, of Evansville, Indiana passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2022, surrounded by her family. JoAnn was born on December 30, 1969, in Evansville, Indiana to Francis and Shirley Happe.
JoAnn was deeply loved by her family and friends. Her love for her children and their accomplishments were some of her greatest joys. JoAnn's selfless, humble, and caring spirit will live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her.
JoAnn is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Robert Schoenstein; daughters, Abby Albin (Jacob) and Holly Schoenstein; son, Zachary Schoenstein; siblings, Jayne Downs (Thomas) and Jerry Happe (Cindy), and other close relatives.
She possessed the kindest and most hardworking spirit. She welcomed everyone, with an eagerness to leave their lives better than she initially found them. Her capacity to love knew no bounds. JoAnn's Catholic faith was a true testament of embracing God's mission of unconditional love, suffering and dying to self here on Earth. She enjoyed gardening, family walks, baking, bonfires, volunteer work through her church, and spending time with family and friends. She was a warrior, a giver, a phenomenal friend, a world-class wife, and an exceptional mother. She fought the good fight and finished the race of life with nothing left to give. Through God's abundant grace He granted her the ultimate gift of eternal healing. Even amid her three-year battle with cancer, she spoke life and love into others. During her cancer journey, she was blessed with old- and new-friends, which filled her life with innumerable moments of joy and happiness. She possessed an extraordinary prayer life, which was reciprocated ten-fold during her final days.
Special thanks to all her doctors and nurses, including Kelsey Beasley, RN, Dr. Christopher Brayden, Dr. Noah Taylor, Caroline Coughlin, NP, and the tremendous nurses and staff at Heart to Heart Hospice.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 8:30 am on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 918 W. Mill Road, Evansville, IN 47710 with Father Jason Gries officiating. The Mass will be followed by a Celebration of Life until 11:00 am, where ALL friends and family are invited to recount her life. The burial procession will then follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, 6300 N. First Avenue, Evansville, IN 47710.
