JoAnn Elizabeth Schumb, age 91, of North Chelmsford, formerly of Lynnfield, passed away on August 9 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington. Born in Stoneham, Massachusetts on March 21, 1934, she was the dear daughter of Earl and Ruth (Watt) King.

JoAnn was the beloved wife of the late Charles Joseph Schumb and loving mother of Alaine Marie and her husband Jonathan Kier of North Chelmsford. She was predeceased by her sons Charles Joseph and Eric Arthur. She was the adoring grandmother of Robert, Matthew, his wife Abigail, and Eric Kier. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Evelyn, Rowan, Curtis, Calder, Isla, and Adelaide. Affectionately known as Nana Jo, her grandchildren and great grandchildren fondly recall her straightforward New England spirit, her passion for the Patriots and all Boston sports, and, most of all, her unwavering love for her family.

JoAnn was a cherished sister to the late Marion (Lammers) Raimondi (married to Salvatore). She leaves behind her beloved nephew, Andrew King Raimondi, and her dear niece, Martha Ann Furlong.

JoAnn was also a treasured sister-in-law to the late Virginia Richardson (married to Charles), Catherine Doucette Vickery (married to Francis and Donald), Annamay Conserva (married to Ralph), and Charlotte Fortin (married to Robert). She is survived by many affectionate nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.

JoAnn was raised in Cambridge and was a graduate of Cambridge High and Latin School. She received her bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Boston University in 1956. She worked within her field at the MIT Lab for a brief time before she married and began her family. After having raised her children, JoAnn’s second career was in banking, beginning as a Teller at Warren Five Cents Savings in Peabody, and retiring as Manager of the Mortgage Servicing Department. Along with neighbors and friends in Lynnfield, she volunteered with The Home for Little Wanderers serving as Treasurer in the Lynnfield chapter. JoAnn loved holidays; her passion for decorating every holiday is legendary to her family and her love of hosting her family, especially at Christmas, is a cherished memory for all who celebrated with her.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday, August 14 from 10am-11am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Maria Goretti Church, 112 Chestnut St., Lynnfield at 11:30am.
