Joann D. Spell

Dorothy Joann Spell (Lathrop), age 83, of Ozark, Missouri, passed away March 19, 2022. She was born to Jewel and Goldie (Woods) Kester, July 30, 1938, in Stillwell, Oklahoma. She graduated from Ava High School and went to work for French's on October 7, 1974. She retired with 27 years of service on October 2, 2001. She was a member of The First Baptist Church of Doniphan, Doniphan, MO, and the Noble Hill Baptist Church, Brighton, MO. Her interests included quilting, gardening, and cooking.
She is preceded in death by her parents Jewel and Goldie (Woods) Kester; first husband Lloyd T. Lathrop; second husband Leon B. Spell; 2 sons Jarone Dale Lathrop and Steven Kent Lathrop; and 1 brother William Isaac Kester. She is survived by her daughter Gaytha Anderson (David); daughter-in-law Jonita Lathrop; 6 grandchildren Alicia Hicks, Kecia Maxwell (David), Elizabeth Hatton (Dalton), Devery Hoppe, Jay Lathrop, Amanda Lisk (Justin); 7 great-grandchildren; brothers Howard Kester (Dottie) and Paul Kester (Lois); sisters Lorene Lawrence, Nancy Cook (Lester), and Glenda Floyd; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
A visitation will be held Friday, March 25, 10-11:00 am, Greenlawn Funeral Home North, with the service following at 11:00 am. The graveside will follow at Robberson Prairie Cemetery.
