Joann Wells Alexander, affectionately known as "Baby Cakes" by those who knew her best, was born on March 16, 1962, in Paterson, New Jersey. She was the daughter of Marion (Mary) Payne, and Charlie Wells.
Joann attended Paterson Public School #6 and graduated from Eastside Highschool. Her education laid the foundation for a successful career, being employed in the Shipping and Receiving departments at Popular Club and Bed Bath and Beyond.
Baby Cakes was a vibrant soul who brought laughter and joy to all who crossed her path. She had a passion for life that was undeniable. She will be remembered for her humorous personality, twerking, dancing to her favorite artist, Michael Jackson, and cooking for her family and friends. She put love into every dish she prepared.
Known for her ability to crack jokes and her fearless honesty, Baby Cakes was the person you could count on to tell it like it is. Her straightforwardness, wrapped in humor and love, was one of the many qualities that drew people to her. If you knew Baby Cakes, you knew exactly where you stood, and that place was often filled with laughter and warmth.
Describing Joann in a few words would be to say she was loving, funny, and generous. Her generosity extended beyond material gifts and into every interaction she had. She gave her time, her attention, and her love freely, making everyone in her presence feel valued and loved.
On Sunday March 27, 2025, Joann Wells Alexander departed this life peacefully on at the age of 63.
