Joanna Easter

Joanna Bond Garvey Easter, age 95, passed away in Graham on September 14, 2021. Graveside funeral will be Friday, September, 17, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Farmer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Joanna was born on July 7, 1926 at home on a farm in Red River Station to the late Byron Bond and Ruby (Kennedy) Bond. Her parents were the most influential people in her life as they taught her about Jesus. They sacrificed so much in order to send her to college after she graduated from Nocona High School. She attended Decatur Baptist College and then transferred to East Texas Teacher's College where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in 1946. She then went to North Texas State Teacher's College where she earned her Masters of Education Degree in 1955. She loved teaching elementary school and did so for 38 years, 31 of those years being in Graham. She married Foy Garvey, her loving and faithful husband of 41 years, and he preceded her in January of 1997. They had one son, Robert "Bond" Garvey, who they adored. Bond preceded Joanna in death in November of 2009. In 1998 she married Dr. Billy Easter who loved and cared for her and gave her the strength to live again, he preceded her in death in July of 2019. Joanna was very active in her community and a member of many organizations including, First Baptist Church Church, Texas State Teacher's Association, Delta Kappa Gamma, National Education Association, Retired Teacher's Association, Chautauqua Literary & Scientific Circle, Republican Women, and Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association. Joanna had a happy and positive outlook on life, despite having suffered tragic times.
Joanna is survived by her cousins, Sue Pescaia of Waco, Jimmy Kennedy of Nocona, Joe Kennedy of Nocona, Colleen Uselton of Gainesville, Joe Kennedy of Holiday; and special friends, Cindy and Ken Cox, Ann Scott, Jackie Harden, and Sandra Brister.
