Ioanna (Joanna) Stasinos, known by her family and friends as Loula, was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and teacher, passed away surrounded by her family on January 22, 2025. She was born and spent her early years before WWII in Athens, Greece. Her family then moved to nearby Piraeus, Greece (with its large concentration of families from the Mani region of Greece) where she grew up and spent her years as a young adult with her large and loving family. Her life’s journey was characterized by her deep connection to her Greek heritage and Christian faith.

Joanna was married to the late George Stasinos and together they built a loving family, raising two sons, Greg and John Stasinos. A devoted and passionate educator, Joanna taught at the Greek School at the Assumption of the Theotokos Cathedral in Denver for many years, sharing her knowledge and love of Greek language and culture with generations of students.

She filled her life with joy and creativity, spending her free time singing beautifully, reading, writing poetry, studying world religions, cooking traditional Greek dishes and wonderful pastries, and creating beautiful handiworks of all types including fashion, knitting, needle point, and all manner of arts and crafts. Her faith in the Greek Orthodox tradition was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her with strength and devotion. She could recite hymns, liturgies, and prayers at a moment’s notice and knew all of the major feast days and holidays of the Church by heart. She was a font of enlightenment and knowledge to all. She was a devout Christian in practice and spirit, always keeping the fast and the faith and doing good deeds and spreading kindness and love wherever she went. Above all, Joanna cherished her role as a grandmother, pouring her love into her four grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

Joanna is survived by her sons, Greg (Kristi) Stasinos and John (Eleni) Stasinos, her cherished grandchildren, Ioanna Maria, Giorgios Dimitrios, Lily, and Nikoletta, and her sister, Eugenia Moshovakos of Piraeus, Greece.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Stasinos, and her siblings, Nikolas Zilakos, Anastasios Zilakos, Kyriakos Zilakos and Petros Zilakos.

Joanna will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her generosity, and the boundless love she gave to her family and community. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and devotion that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

May her memory be eternal.
