Our dearest mother, Dianne Wakeman Brewer, age 90, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2025. Born on February 17, 1935 to James and Ester Wakeman in Flushing, New York. Dianne devoted her life to teaching. She touched countless lives with her patience, wisdom, and kindness throughout her career in Indiana and Colorado. She was a loving mother to Jennifer Smith, Jeffrey Guy, and Jay Guy and a cherished stepmother to Cathy Nantkes, Kevin Brewer, Kelly Brewer, and Kim Cowger. Her family grew to include 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy. She is predeceased in death by her husband James Brewer, and stepson Kevin Brewer.
She was also a very talented artist and musician. She taught many of her grandchildren how to play the piano, and she played beautifully as well. As an artist, she worked in many different mediums; charcoals, acrylics, oils, clay and many others. She almost always signed her pieces with a lady bug.
Dianne will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and the love she shared with her family, friends, students, and community. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Dianne, please visit our floral store.
