Joanne Marquis Allebach

Allebach, Joanne Marquis passed from this earth into the arms of her Savior on Friday, December 9, 2022 at the age of 94. She dedicated her whole life to teaching others about Jesus-at school, Sunday school, five-day camps, and vacation Bible school. She loved hymns, the King James Bible, crafts, sewing, reading, games, westerns, and children. Thoroughly committed to prayer, she never gave up hope that those she prayed for would find Jesus. In the fall of 1968, she and her husband Ted started Oakland Christian School in the basement of Oakland Avenue United Presbyterian Church with 51 students. She served as its first principal and then moved into a teaching role. In 1975 she began teaching Bible and English at Southfield Christian School and retired from full-time teaching in 1991. She is survived by six children Paul, Craig (Carol), Mark, Margaret (Scott), Gordon (Debra), and Elisabeth (George); 8 grandchildren: C.J., Cara, Lindsey, Stephanie (Steven), Caroline, Alexandra, Ford, and Asher; and 5 great grandchildren Maddie, Sam, Anna, Olivia, and Elle. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 15, at 10 am at Lakecrest Baptist Church, 35 Airport Road, Waterford, Michigan, followed by an 11 am service.
