Joanne Carol Takach, 88 of Winchester, VA, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Winchester Medical Center.

Joanne was born in 1937 in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of the late Joseph and Elsie Takach. She was a high school graduate who went on to earn her associate's degree from Bucks County Community College and also received her LPN nursing degree. Joanne retired from the Clarke County School System as a teacher's aide. She enjoyed crocheting and doing water aerobics at the pool in Jim Barnett Park. Joanne lived a very active lifestyle walking several miles every day. Most of all she loved spending time with and watching her grandchildren excel in their individual sports.

She is survived by her son, Gregory Wilson; daughters, Lizanne Wilson-Avial, Jennifer Springs (Tony), Stephanie Longshore and her grandchildren, Alx, Gregory, Casey, Tyler, Gavin, Noah, Gabel, Hayden and Clark.

In addition to her parents, Joanne is preceded in death by her sister, Elyse Creamer.

A Mass will be held at a later date at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Joanne to Jim Barnett water aerobics program, donations may be mailed in care of the Jim Barnett Water Aerobics Program to City of Winchester, Rouss City Hall, 15 N. Cameron St., Winchester, VA 22601
