Joanne Kincaid

Joanne "Jo" Kay Kincaid, age 78, of Chillicothe passed away, surrounded by family, on Monday, August 19th, 2024, at 1:05AM.
She was born April 5, 1946, in Lincoln, IL to Thomas & Mary Flynn. She married Kenneth "Ken" Kincaid on Feb. 19, 1983, in Tucson, Arizona. Jo was a cherished team member in various customer service roles, including at the front desk and dispatch of the Peoria County Police Department, as a transcriptionist for Peoria Oncology/Hematology Associates, and as a customer service representative at Scrip Chiropractic Supplies and HGS. Most recently, she worked at Kroger in Chillicothe, where customers filled her lane for her jokes and antics.
She is survived by her sons, Mike (Crystal) Overturf from Pekin, IL, and Dave (Ginger) Overturf from Long Beach, MS; her daughters, Jennifer (Alex) Bryant from Clarks Hill, IN, and Mary Kincaid from Lafayette, IN. Also surviving are four grandsons: Danny Kincaid, Tyler Overturf, Jarod Howell, and Alex Bryant III; four granddaughters: Heather Overturf, Jessica Campen, Ashli Fischer, and Amber Shields; and seven great-grandsons: Ashton Campen, Bentley Campen, Witt McNabb, Romeo Smith, Rowan Shields, William Kincaid, and Matthew Kincaid. Additionally, she was like a mother to anyone who needed comfort or a homemade chocolate chip cookie.
Preceding her in death were her former husband Carl Overturf, her final husband Ken, her parents, her sister, numerous family members, her "adopted" children Josh and Brooke, and her bird Chloe.
Jo led a life dedicated to others, always putting their needs before her own. She found joy in brightening people's days with her jokes and stories and believed her purpose was to provide comfort and laughter to those in need. She had a passion for plants and would often restore those that were neglected. Her garden brought her immense joy, especially when hummingbirds and butterflies visited, or when a new flower bloomed. She delighted in outdoor activities with her grandchildren and was known for her delicious pineapple upside-down cake and potato salad.
A celebration of her life will take place at the Shore Acres Clubhouse in Chillicothe, IL, from 4-7 pm on Saturday, September 7th. Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe oversees arrangements. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Joanne, please visit our Tree Store.
