Joanne Marie Morrow, known lovingly as Joanne to her friends and family, was
called to her eternal home on January 16, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on May 15,
1936, in
Des Moines, Iowa, Joanne's journey through life was marked by her
infectious laughter, boundless energy, and unwavering faith. She passed away
peacefully of natural causes in
Peoria, Arizona, surrounded by the love of her
daughter, Judy.
Joanne was married to Leo Morrow in 1954. They enjoyed traveling and having
adventures together. Leo passed away in Springdale, AK in 2001.
A graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School in Los Angeles, California, Joanne's
youthful exuberance and zest for life were evident early on. Her career as a
telephone operator was just one of the many hats she wore with grace and
dedication. Joanne's true calling, however, was that of a homemaker-she was a
magnificent baker, renowned for her delectable pies and candies that no one
could resist. Her home was always filled with the sweet aroma of her latest
creation, drawing in family and friends like bees to honey.
A faithful Christian, Joanne lived her life as a testament to her beliefs. Her
unwavering devotion was the guiding light for her daughter, Judy Hopper, and all
who knew her. Joanne was not just a caring mother; she was everyone's favorite
aunt, a loving friend, a cherished sister, and a devoted daughter. Her ability to
weave humor into the fabric of her faith was a gift that made every church
gathering brighter and every moment a little lighter.
Joanne's home was the epitome of cleanliness, a reflection of her meticulous
nature. She was a welcoming hostess whose door was always open, ready to greet
guests with a warm smile and an even warmer slice of pie. A talented crocheter,
her handiwork adorned the homes of many, each stitch a labor of love. Joanne's
adventurous spirit found joy in the great outdoors, whether she was hiking the
trails, swinging a golf club, or simply enjoying a game of cards or dominoes with
friends. Her presence was a guarantee of good times and hearty laughs.
Described by those who knew her best as adventurous, handy, and funny,
Joanne's sense of humor was as sharp as her crochet needles. She could turn a
phrase, spin a yarn, and deliver a punchline with the best of them, ensuring that
her legacy of laughter would live on. Joanne's life was a testimony to the joy of
Christ, the strength of family, and the power of a good pie.
In her passing, Joanne leaves behind a tapestry of memories that will forever be cherished by her loving
daughter, Judy, and all who were blessed to know her. Her spirit, as vibrant and
comforting as the afghans and doilies she crafted, will continue to wrap us in
warmth and love. As we bid farewell to Joanne Marie Morrow, we do so with the
knowledge that she is now sharing her jokes and joy with the angels, leaving us
with the echo of her laughter and the sweetness of her memory.
