Jody Pringle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sullivan Family Funeral Homes & Cremation Service - Hinsdale on Aug. 23, 2024.
To know her was to love her.
People throughout the span of her 95 years could not help but love Jody Pollock Pringle, who entered eternal life on August 22, 2024. She leaves behind a gracious legacy of gratitude, service, joyous welcome and humility.
Jody entered her earthly life on June 24, 1929, born as the third daughter to Joe and Janet Pollock.
Jody grew up in Elmhurst, IL and joyfully spent all the 95 summers of her life in Lake Geneva, WI. In both places, a large, extended family and a great community of cousins always surrounded her! She deeply cherished all these familial relationships and they helped to form and define her in many ways.
Herself a third generation on the Geneva Lake family compound called Rainbow Point, Jody was blessed to be able to witness the 4th, 5th and 6th generations of her family spend summers enjoying that same home... on that same property... on that same lake. Her love of the Lake, running barefoot all summer, sailing, swimming and planting the family flower garden she loved so much continues with all those subsequent generations.
Jody graduated from Colorado College and brought back to her family a love of snow skiing that is still enjoyed by all. She earned her Masters in Education from Columbia University in New York.
She taught kindergarten until her marriage to Tom Pringle in 1956. With that union, she joyfully became the loving mother to Mike and Steve Pringle. Son Joe was born to Jody and Tom a year later. They raised their three sons together in Hinsdale, IL.
Jody possessed a servant's heart. Her effervescent personality, coupled with her unending desire to serve and put others before herself, blessed many.
Jody was a longtime, active member of the following: Union Church of Hinsdale; Lake Geneva Garden Club; PEO (Philanthropic Educational Organization); Village Associates arm of the Art Institute of Chicago; Women's Board member of Hinsdale's Wellness House; Board member and then Volunteer Coordinator for many years of Hinsdale's Community House; and many book clubs.
Jody was blessed to have many dear, dear friends throughout her life and a loving, close-knit family.
Over the years, Jody traveled extensively with friends and family, exploring locations worldwide.
Jody was a social being. Over her last decades, she loved living in The Woods of King-Bruwaert. And for the past five years, she lived in the assisted living spaces of KB, signing up for every activity and always enjoying the company of others. Her favorite involvement for over 20 years was being a charter member of the senior dance troupe, called 'The Adorables'.
In her final days, in addition to dear friends and family who sat vigil beside her, a parade of nurses who had assisted her over these past 5 years at King-Bruwaert came to sing to her, pray over her and say their last goodbye to this sweet soul.
To know her was to love her.
But it was her family that was her greatest joy. Preceded in death by son Steven Reed Pringle, former husband Thomas Bates Pringle, and Great-Grandson Bennett James Baron, Jody is survived by many who will miss her loving presence in their lives including: Son Joe Pringle and daughter-in-law Tami Pringle; Son Mike Pringle and daughter-in-law Lisa Pringle; Grandchildren: Ashley (Kurt) Ramirez; Jordan (Katelyn) Pringle; Aubrey (Sam) Baron; Oliver (Angela) Pringle; Lesley (Rey) Perez; Kelley (Micah) Leddy; Tim (Jess) Pringle; Great-Grandchildren: Lina, Ada and Ruth Ramirez; Henry and Rosie Pringle; Beau and Sadie Baron; Adeline Pringle; Adela and Andres Perez; Reese, Audrey and Jack Leddy; Rory Pringle; and many other extended family members.
A funeral celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at Union Church of Hinsdale (137 S. Garfield St. Hinsdale, IL). Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the start of the service at 10:30 am. Livestream
Memorial gifts may be made in Jody Pringle's name to Holy Family Ministries (2215 Enterprise Drive, Suite 1510, Westchester, IL 60154, www.hfm.org).

To know her was to love her .. perfectly said. Jody was the sweetest kindest loving generous and welcoming woman. Our family is grateful to have known her. One of my favorite memories is being invited to Jody´s house at Rainbow point in the winter enjoying good food, cocktails and working on puzzles before heading to a New years party at the club. I personally could have skipped the club and just enjoyed being with Jody and her friends! It was always a joy seeing her over many Summers at the lake and I feel grateful we had a good visit the week before she passed. She leaves a big void in the hearts of all who loved her. I know she is now an angel in heaven because she was just that here on earth.
