Joe Richard James was born August 11th, 1949, and departed this life on October 2nd, 2025. In Joe's earlier years he resided with his mother Clova and older brother Jay. After he lived at several other places before moving to Mimosa Manor Host Home in Mtn. Grove Missouri with the Smith family. Joe spent 43 plus years with the Smith family. Francis "Sue as Joe called her" Smith was the provider for Mimosa Manor and worked with Joe one-on-one with her daughter Melissa for so many wonderful years, until her health declined and she retired.
In Joe's earlier years he loved camping, fishing, bowling, watching westerns especially with John Wayne in them, the sheltered workshop, and going to camp wonderland. He loved spending time with family and friends, especially Sue and her daughter.
In 2022 Joe moved to A Fresh Beginning in Rolla Missouri and lived with his housemates Clinton and Chucky for 3 years. Early on at A Fresh Beginning his staff would say go and he would get his shoes on to leave. Staff figured out quickly that he didn't like to shop. He would sit down and not get up until he was ready to go. Joe liked to go on scenic drives on the country roads then to go shopping. Joe loved all his staff. He liked the staff's undivided attention and knew how to get it at the frustration of his housemate, Chucky. Joe was always happy and especially after doctors' appointments, because he knew he was getting a burger and soda. Joe liked playing uno with staff and he liked coloring with staff. He liked to sit in the living room with his staff and housemate and watch TV. He loved when people would stop by to visit him.
Joe was proceeded in death by his mother Clova Standler and his brother Jay James.
Joe will be greatly missed by his Mimosa Manor Family Francis "Sue", Melissa, Wynter, and his A Fresh Beginning Family.
"In Loving Memory"
A gentle soul has taken flight,
Leaving memories shining bright.
In every laugh, in every tear,
We feel him still, forever near.
