A Celebration of Life memorial will be held Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the VFW located at 1402 N. Bridge St., Henrietta, TX 76365. Please be prepared to share a favorite G-rated Joe Gant story.

Joe Gant McCurdy was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on September 1, 1982 and left this world on October 15, 2024 at age 42. Joe Gant grew up in Petrolia, Waurika, Temple, Corum, and Walters. He lived briefly in Central, Cyril, Wichita Falls, and various other towns. As an adult, he settled in Henrietta, Texas after finding his true love, Cassidy Nicole Onderdonck. Joe Gant and Cassidy were married October 10, 2010 at the pond behind his folks house in Cotton County, Oklahoma. To this union, one son and Joe's pride and joy, Brendle JoeGant McCurdy was born.

Joe Gant is survived by his wife, Cassidy and his son, Brendle of the home, his parents, Roy and Candy Simms of Walters, and Steven Joe McCurdy of Lake Arrowhead; his sister, Holly and Jim Yzquierdo of Comanche; half siblings, CJ & Baylee Simms of Duke, Dawson McCurdy of Petrolia; step siblings, Brittney Schroeder of Grandfield, Braden Schroeder of Scotland, Tracy Simms of Comanche, and Jessica Simms of Gillsville, GA; and two special young men, Will Briggs of Stephenville, and Weston Seward of Shubert, Nebraska. He is also survived by aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by all of his grandparents, Louis Bartosh, Jerry Ann Bartosh, Bobby Ray Holly, Joe Clifton McCurdy, Margaret Ann McCurdy, and Malinda (Pat) Simms.

Lit'l Joe had legendary escapades all over Texas and Oklahoma. He had more try than the average duck in everything he did whether it be noodling, bull riding, horseshoes, cooking, or those extracurricular activities. He was fast on his feet until that bull crushed his ankle at Fudge's place, but then he could hop like a jack rabbit. And Joe could tell a story...true or not, he'd make you a believer.
