Joe "Tino" Sanchez, 76, passed away on August 24, 2025, in Antonito, Colorado. Born on October 2, 1947, in Amalia, New Mexico, he lived a life marked by hard work, service, and deep connections with those around him. Tino proudly served in the United Stated Army from 1967 to 1969, stationed at Fort Carson in Colorado. His time in the military reflected his dedication and sense of duty-qualities that would continue to define his life long after his service ended. Following his military service, Tino built a diverse and industrious career. He worked for drilling companies in Rollins, Wyoming and Fort Collins, Colorado for twelve years. Later, he contributed his skills to a construction company in Denver. In addition to these roles, he also worked as a farmhand and mechanic-professions that suited his hands-on nature and mechanical aptitude. Tino had a deep love for the outdoors and spent countless hours hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed raising animals and working on cars-activities that brought him joy and allowed him to share his talents with others. Above all else, he cherished spending time with family. He is remembered by many for his kindness, warmth, and infectious sense of humor. Tino touched the lives and hearts of those who knew him with his generous spirit and loving nature. He is survived by his daughters Juanita Duncan and Serena Saldana; siblings Emejido Sanchez (wife Mary Sanchez), Selema Gallegos, Rosalia Martinez, and Christina Contreras; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Tino was preceded in death by his father Levi Sanchez, mother Inicita Salazar; brothers Ernie Sanchez, Levi Sanchez Jr., Leroy Sanchez, Luis Sanchez; and sister Cody Redwine. May Tino's memory bring comfort to all who knew him and may his legacy live on through the many lives he touched. A Rosary will be held September 6, 2025 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish 6633 Co Rd 13, Antonito, Colorado 81120. Eulogy will be read and service will immediately follow.
