Joe Scott, resident of Masters Drive, widower of Nyoda Garrison Scott, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2025, at his home.
Born September 28, 1935, in Greenwood, he was a son of the late James W. and Ivy Davis Scott. He retired from CPW and was a master tradesman and electrician. He owned many enterprises and worked as long as his physical body would allow.
A member of Tranquil United Methodist Church, he was also a member of the Greenwood Masonic Lodge #91, and was a Nobel and Past (1998) Potentate of the Hejaz Shrine Temple. He was also a Past President of the Greenwood Shrine Club and Past President of the Razzle Dazzle Clown Corps of the Shrine. He was also a Past President of the South Atlantic Shrine Association. Joe was the inspiration and founder in 1985, of the Annual Easter Egg Hunt for Burton Center.
The last member of his immediate family, he was predeceased by his parents; step-daughters, Serena Steifle and Patti Johnson; step grandsons, Franklin and Richard Johnson and Gregory Smith; a step granddaughter, Anna Goforth; his brothers, Murray, Roy, Ned and Floyd Scott; his sisters, Lois Major, Louise Brown, Jean Watts and Peggy Gardo and a nephew, Stanley Scott who was raised in the home.
Surviving are four step-daughters, June (Ansel) Smith, Paula Bourne, Pamela Moats, Debbie Massey; step grandchildren, Angie Hunt (Tony), Chaney Wilson, Eric Steifle, Lisa Callaham, Amy Saggus (Mike), Whit Bourne, Nicolas Massey; nine great grands and a number of great-great grands; many nieces and nephews and his beloved Charlie.
Funeral services will be conducted 2pm Saturday at Tranquil United Methodist Church with Rev. John Bolan officiating. Visitation will be 1 to 2pm at the church on Saturday. Burial with Masonic and Shriner Rites will follow in Oakbrook Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Harrison Bourne, Eric Steifle, Nicolas Massey, Mike Saggus, Lang Nickles, Billy Ackerman, Chad Teague, Culler Goforth and Sherwood Kiser.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
